Men’s Basketball results

There was more exciting action as the National Men’s Basketball League continued over the weekend at the Vigie Multi-Purpose Sports Complex, Micoud and Soufriere.

On Saturday, VBCC Warlords edged Canaries 75-74 in a close evening opener at the Vigie Sports Complex.  Marcian Calderon had figures of 29 points (pts) and nine rebounds (rebs) for VBCC.  He was aided by Nigel Butcher with 13 pts and seven rebs.

For Canaries, Durocher Antoine had 21pts, eight rebs and seven assists and Larry Shepherd 17 pts and 14 rebs in their loss.

The Dr Freezers Player of the Game was Calderon who was dominant in the paint for VBCC.

In game two at the Complex, defending champions Courts Jets went back to their winning ways, following their first defeat in six games to get past Babonneau Dynasty 84-70.  Andre Louison continued his great performance in this year’s tournament with a game high 29 pts and eight rebs for Courts Jets.  Keegan Preville also had an impressive double double of 16 pts, 13 rebs for the Jets.

For Dynasty, Owen Cazaubon had 16 pts, nine rebs and Mervin Augustin also had 16 pts and four rebs in that game.

Louison who was unstoppable was named the Delirius Bar and Deli Player of the Game.

Also, on Saturday at Soufriere in Division One action, ISE got past a hostile crowd to win 62-50, behind another strong performance from Gabriel McFarlane, which kept them unbeaten so far in Division One basketball.

On Sunday, the first game in Micoud featured a Division One clash between home team Micoud Hustlerz and Combined Schools.  In an entertaining affair, Micoud edged Schools 58-57.

At the Vigie Sports Complex, the first game of the night resulted in a win for Morne Gladiators over Babonneau Dynasty with a final score of 75-73.  Kevin Lesporis had a strong performance of 20 pts and nine rebs. He was ably aided by teammate Gillan Octave with 20 pts and nine rebs for the Morne.

For Dynasty, Mervin Augustin had a huge 27 pts and seven rebs and Lester Jn Charles chipped in with 16 pts and nine rebs in their loss.

The Valley Cold Storage Player of the Game was Lesporis of Gladiators.

In game two at the Complex, Dennery won another close game on the weekend 66-65 over VBCC Warlords.  Veteran player Desmond Vidal again led the scoring for Dennery with 28 pts and seven rebs.  Kevin Mathurin also contributed 11pts and three rebs in that game.

Marcian Calderon also had an impressive double.
