The Mexican embassy on Saturday evening hosted, free of charge, a theatrical production of “El Elcanto, Tendajon Mixto” by Elana Garro, in commemoration of the embassy’s tenth year in St. Lucia. The venue was the National Cultural Centre and the performance was open to the public.

“Part of the company’s focus is helping explore plays and talents from around the region,” Ms Louis told The STAR. “As much as this production is Mexican, it is also very Saint Lucian in its feel.”
Maite Narvaez, an embassy official with responsibility for co-operation, culture and media, expressed the desire to make Saint Lucians more knowledgeable about Mexican culture.
“They’d be amazed to discover how much alike we are,” she said.
The audience was treated to some heart-lifting pieces on guitar, violin and conga drums, as well as some fine acting.
