Micoud Youth and Sports Council Hosts Inaugural Violence and Suicide Awareness March

[dropcap]L[/dropcap]ast year, Saint Lucia experienced a record number of homicides accompanied by an increase in suicide cases. With youth being major contributors to these statistics, the Micoud Youth and Sports Council is partnering with the Nightriders Track Club to host an “Awareness March” in the month of January.

The march will be held on Sunday, February 4th, 2018 along a route commencing at the Micoud Multipurpose
Centre grounds, through Dugard and Ti-Rocher. Through this initiative, we are looking to create a unified voice against crime, violence,  and other social ills affecting youth while standing in solidarity with community sportsmen and women who have been impacted by these incidents.

The march is scheduled to begin at 5:00 am in Micoud Village and culminates with addresses by prominent
guest speakers and a “socacize” session. The public is invited to join in solidarity towards the holistic wellbeing of youth within the community. We encourage participants to wear white to signify community
peace and unity.

Let’s build a resilient Saint Lucia together!
