The Ministry of Infrastructure, Ports, Energy and Labour wishes to confirm that a “Sand Permit” was approved and issued for the clearing of sand from the mouth of the Anse La Raye River, which has been permanently blocked. The permit was granted by the Office of the Chief Engineer on May 12, 2020 following review of a request received on May 11, 2020 for removal of the sand from the river mouth in an effort to drain the stagnated water from around the Anse La Raye Playing Field.
Permit NO.2 of 05/2020 (Anse La Raye River) was valid for five (5) working days Friday May 22th and Monday May 25th to Thursday May 28th, 2020.
The permit requirements stipulate that the river front shall be left in a pristine condition upon completion of the desilting works and that any damages sustained to the access road shall be repaired at the cost of the Office of the Parliamentary Representative for Anse La Raye.
The Ministry of Infrastructure, Ports, Energy and Labour assures residents of Anse La Raye and citizens of Saint Lucia that the authorisation of such “Sand Permits” is a customary exercise.
