Mon Repos and Micoud qualify

Eastern Districts Mon Repos and Micoud booked their place in the quarter finals of the 2012 Blackheart Knockout Football Tournament after victories Wednesday evening at the Beasejour Cricket Ground, as the tournament resumed after a two day break.
In the opening encounter, Mon Repos outplayed Central Castries in winning 3-1. Mon Repos were led to victory by goals from Joel Charles in the 13th minute, Rohan Lesmond in the 45th and Shervin Charles in the 54th.
Central Castries got a consolation goal from Michael “Baige” Marshall in the 80th minute.
In the night’s second game, former Blackheart and national inter district champions Micoud registered a 1-0 win over Marchand. Micoud’s lone goal came from national striker Shane Paul in the 52nd minute.
The tournament resumes today (Saturday) evening with the final set of preliminary matches in the first round. From 6:00 pm Desruisseaux came up against Vieux Fort South and them from 8:00pm Dennery take on Laborie.
Before today’s games, Dennery All Blacks Veterans and Caricom Masters
meet in a friendly veterans encounter.
On Sunday the quarter finals begin with Mon Repos playing Soufriere followed by Vieux Forth North against Canaries. The second set of quarter final matches
will be played May 30
with the semi-finals set for June 2 and the finals schedule for June 10.
