Stratosphere Muzic artiste Mongstar is now in Martinique where he will participate in the inaugural All for One Caribbean competition.

Mongstar, who is accompanied by his management team, will represent Saint Lucia against singers from seven other Caribbean countries, namely Dominica, Cuba, Trinidad and Tobago, Saint Martin, Guadeloupe, Haiti and Barbados.

The singer, whose real name is Marley James, will compete with the songs “Saint Lucia We Love” and “GloKoKo”. Both songs are tremendously popular in Martinique where he has performed on numerous occasions. “GloKoKo” was featured on the 2012 acclaimed French compilation Don’s Collector 4, a full year after its release in 2011.

The song was one of only three English songs on the album and to date has been downloaded more than “Vibes Cyah Done Remix” by Machel Montano and “Bam Bam” by Bunji Garlin.

The All for One Caribbean competition is based on the Eurovision singing contest, which has been ongoing for more than 50 years. It is also similar to televised singing competitions like “American Idol”. Participants will sing two songs in front of a live and television audience from the Caribbean region and Europe where the show will be broadcast live. The winner will be chosen by text voting as well as a panel of judges selected from the participating countries.

In August, the All for One Crew filmed a mini-documentary of Mongstar and Saint Lucia. It will be broadcast days leading up to the final show so participating countries can get to know the artiste and hear his musical story. Mongstar welcomed this opportunity with open arms; seizing it as a chance to not only showcase his talent but also represent Saint Lucia in a major competition. “I sing about Saint Lucia from my heart and soul so now I have the chance to represent for my people, fans and country,” he said.

The All for One competition, which Saint Lucians can watch live on Choice TV Channel 39, will take place on October 21 at the Atrium Martinique.
