Mothers to compete in Ave Maria School pageant!

312

The world celebrates mothers every year and this day is among the most significant of special occasions. “A mother’s love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity, it dares all things and crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path.” – Agatha Christie. Locally mother’s day attracts plenty of attention. The Ave Maria school will be celebrating mothers day in a special way, by holding a pageant paying tribute to our mothers under the theme “Partnering School and Community: Mothers in Action.” This first ever event will be held at the National Cultural Centre on Sunday, May 6 from 3pm.
A total of seven beautiful mothers will be taking part in the pageant. They are, Brendalyn Smith, Mahalia Marius, Natasha Flavius, Olivia Heny, Shana Stanley, Tessa Charles and Velander Emilien. The pageant hope of raising funds that will be used to enrich the school, allowing the purchase of equipment such as an inter-com system and musical instruments as well as providing pastoral care to needy students, sourcing essential school projects and implementing daily maintenance needs and repairs.
The wheels have been in motion for a pageant of this sort for quite some time and the school has finally found the perfect opportunity. After speaking with teacher and event coordinator Frances Jn Baptiste she says the theme embodies their aim. She hopes it will unite the parents and the community with the school in order to enhance the teaching and learning programmes. According to Jn Baptiste, without this vital collaboration no school can be successful and everybody plays a part.
As the saying goes, “it takes a whole villiage to raise a child” and Jn Baptiste echoed those sentiments. She says mothers and fathers are capable of playing a crucial part in their children’s’ lives by interacting socially, spiritually, intellectually and morally, in partnership with their learning institutions.
The anticipated pageant is the talk of the playground.                 The children cannot wait! They are making quite the marketing agents, as they are telling everybody about the event. The mothers may not be beauty queens and for most it is a completely new experience, but they are ready and willing to give their best.
The pageant consists of five segments including: introduction, casual wear, talent, evening wear and an interview proposing scenarios as a mother. And the final element will be a surprise! There will also be sideline attractions such as dance groups and calypso music and plenty of eats and drinks on sale as well as giveaways and prizes.
So come along and show your support to our mothers, children and the Ave Maria School. Tickets can be purchased from the Ave Maria School, Steve’s Barber Shop, Wings of Love, Floralight Bridal and Y de Lima.
