Former CEO of the West Indies Cricket Board Ernest Hilaire was the guest speaker.

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he St Lucia National Cricket Awards (SLNCA) took place Friday evening at the luxurious Bay Gardens Beach Resort under the theme “Collective Responsibility In Pursuit Of Success”.

Former Permanent Secretary in the Department of Youth and Sports and former CEO of the West Indies Cricket Board- Dr Ernest Hilaire, was the guest speaker at this year’s event, while President of the SLNCA, Julian Charles delivered the welcome remarks.

The highlight of the evening was the naming of the male and female Junior and Senior Cricketers for 2017. There was expected to be stiff competition in all four categories.    

Nominees in the four categories are as follows: Junior Female – Kiana Joseph and Nerissa Crafton; Junior Male – Akeem Auguste, Kimani Melius, Lee Solomon, Garvin Serieux Jr; Senior Female – Ashlene Edward, Kiana Joseph, Roylin Cooper; Senior Male – Daren Sammy, Johnson Charles, Tarryck Gabriel.

The Association will also recognized six cricketers for their outstanding achievement in 2017 and the named the Association’s Second Honorary Member.

The Minister for Sports as well as various cricket officials, sponsors, Ministry of Sports officials and current and past players attended the event.

The recipient of the various awards will be published in next Saturday’s Sports & Health Inc.
