NWU Congratulates Security Firms

The National Workers Union (NWU) has extended its appreciation to three security companies in the southern part of the island for the reasonable level of wages being paid to their employees through negotiated industrial agreements with the National Workers Union. ICON Security, General Security Services Ltd and Sentinel Security are good industrial relations examples, according to the Union.

The NWU is of the opinion that the security services sector is a very important one within which security guards play a significant role in spite of the risk to the guards and their families.

The time has come when security companies operating in the northern part of Saint Lucia must step up to the plate, embrace a certain level of standardisation and give their clients good service for the money they receive.

The NWU also believes that having representational recognition with the majority of companies on the island, security guards will now have to get together and form a Security Guards Council as a first step to establish a serious line of solidarity.
