“Oscar”, a true inspiration!

“Oscar”, who was born as Kirk Peter, is a Lucian lyricist, rapper and musical inspiration, contributing not only through the arts, but leaving a mark through his music and overall life example. He communicates his poignant life journey through his melodious and thought provoking music. Oscar, the first of his family to attend university, travels through life with a ‘nonchalant mood’ distinct to only Oscar and a meekness which is unsurpassed – a true reflection of the lessons he has learnt along his journey. He considers himself as being ‘different’ and scrupulous and has maintained a positive outlook on life. For Oscar, only now has he begun to see that light down that tunnel, which he caught a glimpse of in his past, through his gradually unfolding accomplishments.
A highly spiritual person, Oscar says he depends on God and puts him first in every aspect of life. He grew up in a single parent home and was raised by his mother, in the absence of his father.
His life journey he describes as being uplifting and he considers himself as being analytic in regard to his goals. Apart from his trials, adversities and lessons learnt throughout them all, Oscar’s intent is to share with his fans his outlook on social occurrences and devise strategies to effect change.

As his passion for music deepened, the young rapper relocated to the United States to study the music industry and establish a network with disc jockeys, key producers and industry executives. His musical influences are Jay Z, J.Cole, Nas, Joey Badass and Tupac.

Being raised as an only child in a single parent household has benefitted Oscar greatly, providing him with the medium to give a moving account of his experiences to his fans. His style is predominant and unique in comparison to modern rap styles. Not only is motivating the masses musically his passion, but Oscar also carries with him an innate sense of social responsibility to help with developing his community, which is New Village, Castries. One of his main goals is to provide low cost housing to less fortunate families in need of better living conditions.

Ever striving for excellence, Oscar aims to become bilingual and travel the world. Presently signed to his own record label ‘Da Vineyard Entertainment Inc’, he is nearing the completion of his first album, which will be released before the end of this year titled ‘Streetside Intellect’. He has collaborated with legends such as Dionne Warwick on his track entitled ‘Speaker of the House’ and Gregory Chambord from the True Tones, on a second track called ‘Trolley Dolly’.

“Where words fail, music speaks! Very few are better versed with the expression of words through a distinct combination of beats, rhythms and lyrics, than Kirk Peter himself. Music is the movement of sound to reach the soul for the education of its virtue and has the ability to change the world because it can change people. Oscar utilises this very medium holistically to achieve that much desired change!
