Pawasol Pour Ti Mamai

Pawasol Pour ti Mamai, or children’s umbrella group, was registered as a charity in September 2007 and has since helped over 550 children in paying for them to have operations and to fly abroad for medical treatment. We have bought medications and special equipment and paid for schooling, uniforms, books, transportation, lunches and both examination and registration fees. Books have been purchased for both the Micoud library and the Dennery pre-school. Students of care have had their training funded and we have helped in various ways numerous other organisations including the St.Lucia Crisis Centre, CGDC, St. Lucia Blind Welfare, Growell, Upton Girls Convent, and the Dunnottar School.

We raise money by selling at flea markets, organising tombolas, holding lunch functions, quiz nights, sponsored walks and printing and selling of cookbooks, calendars and greeting cards and have, up to the end of 2014, raised over EC$450,000. Every cent of this has been spent on the children as this charity has no administrative costs because everything is done by volunteers.

On Palm Sunday Pawasol held a pirate and easter egg hunt on board the pirate ship “The Pearl’ which was a great success with 200 parents and children attending for a fun-filled afternoon. Prizes were given to the children who found the most eggs and also to the best dressed girl and boy.
