With the thrust to make the Caribbean, including Saint Lucia, a renowned culinary destination, food and wine pairing has inevitably become part of this new niche. There are indeed plenty of wines that go well with Caribbean foods and Peter & Company now carry an array of these wines for just the right occasion.
On Friday July 31 Peter & Co. hosted “Uncorked- a Wine & Cheese Mixer,” on the pleasure boat the Pearl, in the Rodney Bay Marina, from 5 to 8pm. The purpose – introduce their specially invited customers to some of Saint Lucia’s finest wines. All of the wines are available at Peter & Co. and patrons were also given a quick study on the benefits and use of some of these fine wines and the options to pair with food.
Whether entertaining guests, hosting an event or catering at a restaurant or bar, the wide assortment on display last Friday gave persons several options.
Wine extraordinaire Mr. Martin Jagroop was also on hand to showcase how these wines could be incorporated into food recipes to change and or add to that aromatic flavour that visitors to the island find exotic. Some of the wines sampled by guests Friday included Hardy’s Moscato, Ravenswood Lodi Old Vine Zinfandel, Ruffino Chianti and Two Oceans Moscato as well as Two Oceans Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot, among others.
Attendees at Friday’s event thoroughly enjoyed the occasion that also afforded them the opportunity to take home some of these wines at special prices.
“With this being the first of its kind, the concept of Uncorked, brought together some of the world’s finest wines paired with delicious cheeses, a perfect marriage for the occasion,” noted Germaine Serieux brand manager at Peter & Company for these exotic wines. He further added that the attendees embraced the ambiance of the Pearl and thought that the event was an exquisite one and are looking forward to other similar mixers.
