Police charge Hospital Road man found asleep and in possession of a firearm; two others charged following search of house in Bois Den

Three men are now remanded at the Bordelais Correctional Facility (BCF) after being charged for the possession of unlicensed firearms in separate incidents. Speaking to reporters at a press briefing today, acting Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), George Nicholas, disclosed that around 3:00 am on September 22, Marchand police were in the vicinity of Hospital Road when their assistance was sought by an individual.

“As a result they proceeded to a house at Hospital Road and on entering the house they found Joshua Jn Baptiste who was asleep and in possession of a 9mm pistol. Jn Baptiste was arrested and the 9mm pistol was taken possession of by the officers,” Nicholas said. The acting ACP indicated that Jn Baptiste has since been charged for the possession of the unlicensed firearm and is on remand at BCF.

Later that same day, Nicholas said, Babonneau police were on patrol in the Garrand community when they discovered a 12 gauge firearm with 6 rounds of ammunition. No arrests have been made in relation to this incident.

Nicholas further stated that Anse La Raye police also executed an operation in which they conducted a search at the home of Deterville Darcheville of Bois Den. Police discovered a .40 caliber pistol with 8 rounds of ammunition, and a tarus revolver with 5 rounds of ammunition. “Jeffery Aimable along with Deterville Darcheville were both arrested and have since been charged with possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition and they are now remanded at the BCF,” he said.
