The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force has slapped charges on Jamaican national Granville Blake for entering Saint Lucia illegally. At a press briefing last week, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Milton Desir, had stated that the man was arrested in Gros Islet on October 19 and was placed in quarantine. Desir said that Blake was not caught at sea, but the police received information that he arrived in Saint Lucia “at least four days” before the arrest.

“He was in an establishment at the time that the officers approached him,” the Deputy Commissioner said, without specifying what type of establishment.

On Monday, Superintendent George Nicholas provided an update on the matter during a press conference at Chesterfield.

“On Sunday October 25, 2020, police arrested and charged a 43-year-old Jamaican national Granville Blake for entering Saint Lucia at an unauthorized port of entry, and also for disembarking without the consent of an Immigration Officer,” Nicholas said.

A bail hearing is scheduled for later today.
