Police Recover Firearms & Ammunition

First Incident

On Monday, January 30, 2023 about 2:00 p.m. officers attached to the Central Police Station arrested a male on High Street, Castries for unlawful Possession of Firearm and Ammunition.

Whilst on patrol the officers observed a suspicious male and approached him. A search was conducted of his person and a 9mm pistol with a magazine containing seventeen (17) rounds of 9mm ammunition was recovered. He was arrested and escorted to the Criminal Investigations Department for further action.

A Warrant to Search for Property was executed at his residence in Goodlands, Castries, where a magazine and one (1) round of 9mm ammunition was recovered.

An update will be provided once charges are preferred.

Update:

Brendon Imran Gittens of Entrepot, Castries, was formally charged for unlawful Possession of firearm and Ammunition. He was escorted before the First District court for bail, which was granted in the sum of $35,000.00 cash or suitable surety. Reporting conditions and travel restrictions are also terms of his bail.

Second Incident

Firearm and Ammunition Recovered

On Thursday, February 2, 2023 about 5:45 p.m. officers attached to the Special Services Unit arrested a male in Monchy, Gros Islet, whilst on mobile patrol, following the recovery of a firearm.

The team of officers were alerted to a suspicious male near a business establishment and proceeded to approach him. He attempted to flee, however was quickly apprehended. A search of his person was conducted and a 9mm pistol containing a magazine with five (5) rounds of ammunition was recovered.

He was arrested and remains in police custody pending charging.
