[dropcap]T[/dropcap]agged with a series of numbers, 24, 25 and 26, the Royal St Lucia Police Force reported the names of St Lucia’s latest homicide victims. The first occurred in Duggard Micoud, where the body of an unidentified male was discovered. According to official reports, on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at around 1:40 p.m, police were summoned to the area. Preliminary inquiries led to the later identification of 41-year-old Urban Chalenton Kangal alias “Obie” of Duggard Micoud. Police say at the time of discovery, “the body was in a prone position with what appeared to be chop wounds to the right arm and both legs.”
An investigation has since ensued and a male individual has been detained, assisting with investigations. A post mortem has been scheduled for Thursday, October 27, 2016.
That same day at around 9:50 p.m. police responded to a shooting incident in Bisee, Castries. Upon arrival police discovered that 25-year-old Christopher Williams from Bisee had been shot multiple times by an unknown assailant. He was transported to the Victoria Hospital via ambulance, but later succumbed to his injuries.
Homicide number 26 occurred almost simultaneously in another part of the island. At around 9:55 p.m. police responded to a shooting incident on St. Louis Street, Castries. At the scene the body of a female, later identified as 24-year-old Verna Augustin of Wilton’s Yard, Castries was found “lying in a supine position” with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds to the body, allegedly perpetrated by an unknown assailant. She was transported to the Victoria Hospital and pronounced dead upon arrival.
What is happening in St Lucia – the crimes just keep happening. There is no deterrent now and there hasn’t been for years. The place is lawless. Locals and visitors are not safe.

I wonder how ready the attending operators would be to send their clients to SLU if they really knew what is happening on the streets.
