PRIME MINISTER ATTENDS ANNUAL IMF AND WORLD BANK MEETINGS

Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony, has traveled to Washington DC, to participate in the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

While in Washington, the Prime Minister will meet the Executive and Managing Directors of the IMF as well as the Regional Vice President and Executive Director of the World Bank. Dr. Anthony will join other Caribbean Representatives at a meeting with the IMF Managing Director, Ms. Christine Lagarde and will also participate in a World Bank Group Small States Forum.

During his stay in Washington, Prime Minister Anthony will meet with representatives of the Kuwaiti Fund as well as the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID), to finalize the financing arrangements for the Choc to Gros-Islet Highway, announced earlier in this year’s Budget Statement.

The Prime Minister is expected to return to Saint Lucia on Monday, October 13, 2014.

Hon. Philip J. Pierre, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Port Services and Transport will act as Prime Minister during Dr. Anthony’s absence.
