Prime Minister Kenny D. Anthony leaves the island today for Kingstown, St. Vincent, to attend a meeting of the Monetary Council of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, according to government communique.
At that meeting, Prime Minister Anthony will also hand over the chairmanship of the ECCB Monetary Council to Hon. Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, the St. Vincent and the Grenadines prime minister.
Dr. Anthony will also participate in a meeting of the OECS Authority, to be convened today, Saturday. Matters for consideration and discussion include the application by the French Caribbean Overseas Regions to the OECS and the scheduling of the 2nd Sitting of the Assembly of OECS Parliamentarians.
Thereafter, Dr. Anthony will travel to Trinidad and Tobago, to participate in the first CARICOM – Japan Summit. Apart from the multilateral engagements between CARICOM and Japan, Prime Minister Anthony will be engaged in bilateral discussions with the Prime Minister of Japan, His Excellency Shinzo Abe, in an effort to secure assistance for Saint Lucia in strategic areas.
The CARICOM-Japan Summit will be held in Port of Spain next week Monday. Dr. Anthony is expected to return to Saint Lucia later that evening. As usual, the Deputy Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre will act as Prime Minister.
