Rodney Bay Fire Destroys Restaurants

An early morning blaze in the Rodney Bay area Tuesday morning destroyed and damaged several businesses. According to reports, the fire department received a call shortly before 5 am that a fire had started in one of the restaurants along the popular Rodney Bay entertainment strip. Upon arrival, firemen found that several buildings were already engulfed in flames, including the popular Q-Bar owned by Housing Minister Stanley Felix, Hollywood Pizza and Matthew’s Restaurant, among others. When STAR photographer Dave Pascal arrived on the scene at about 6: 40 am firemen were still desperately trying to contain the fire. Also on the scene were UWP leader Allen Chastanet and Stanley Felix. Former National Security Minister Guy Mayers who lives nearby, was also present. There has been no indication as to what caused the fire.
