Sagicor has extended its assistance to vulnerable groups, namely, elderly care homes, children’s homes, and the homeless in the Southern Caribbean communities.
TRINIDAD & TOBAGO
In Trinidad & Tobago, we collaborated with several NGOs, governmental and community based organisations to provide much needed support to thousands of citizens. During this time of crisis, Sagicor is committed to providing food, hygiene and other essentials to several homes and NGOs throughout the country. These will assist domestic violence victims, the socially displaced, the elderly and children. Supported organizations include the Couva Children’s Home & Crisis Nursery, Peace of Mind Home, Tobago, Hope Centre, the Living Water Community’s halfway house and the San Fernando Centre for the Socially Displaced. We have supported our health workers via the donation of PPE equipment including twenty thousand (20,000) N95 masks as well as appliances for a Covid-19 holding centre. Via our branch network we delivered Sagicor Care Kits to persons within our communities throughout Trinidad and Tobago. We also partnered with local broadcast media to deliver tutorials to assist our nation’s children with their continued education particularly those undertaking the SEA (Secondary Entrance Assessment) and CSEC (Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate), along with tips on health and nutrition and the management of stress during these challenging times.
BARBADOS
In Barbados, we partnered with the Barbados Alliance to End Homelessness (BAEH), the Welfare Department and the Ministry of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs to provide a supply of food over a 13 week period. We also donated hygiene and other items critical to improving the daily lives of the homeless, the disabled, the elderly and families in need, touching the lives of over 1200 families.
EASTERN CARIBBEAN & BELIZE
In the Eastern Caribbean and Belize, we collaborated with the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO), the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Commission, Community Development Officers and various public entities to provide medical supplies including thermal scanners, Covid-19 test kits and care packages to orphanages and homes providing care to the elderly and disabled. We distributed vouchers to first responders to demonstrate our gratitude for their selfless actions.
President & Chief Executive Officer of Sagicor Life Inc, Ravi Rambarran said “This is a battle between humanity and a virus which we will win through acting together and shared sacrifice. We will continue to execute our vision of improving the lives of the people in the communities in which we operate.”
