In order to ensure that students were fully prepared for the current school term Sagicor Life (Eastern Caribbean) Inc recently partnered with RISE St Lucia to equip some students with the necessary back to school supplies that are required even as they continue to attend school in non-traditional ways.
During the handover event, Venus Cherry who currently leads RISE St Lucia commended Sagicor for their support of the initiative. He said, “On behalf of Rise St Lucia, I would like to thank Sagicor for agreeing to support us with this book drive. The book drive is about helping the less fortunate in our community, to give every child a chance to become a top achiever. We are grateful that Sagicor agreed to support Rise and the Seaview community as it says a lot about who they are and speaks volumes about what Sagicor stands for.”
Eon Phillips, Assistant Vice-President for EC Insurance Operations and the Branch Manager and Principal Representative for Sagicor Life (Eastern Caribbean) Inc was on hand to host RISE St Lucia at the handover ceremony. He said, “From our perspective, we cannot succeed if we do not interact positively with the communities in which we do business, and it has always been Sagicor’s philosophy to help those who are in less fortunate circumstances than we are. I can assure you that we will continue to work with you and continue to help those in need in the community. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to assist.” RISE Saint Lucia is a non-profit organization dedicated to the development of youth. Operating since 2007, the organization was first conceptualized by soca artiste, Jonathan ‘Ninja Dan’ St. Rose as well as Stephen King, pathologist and Child Health Specialist Jacqueline Bird.
