Saint Lucia National Trust announces major changes at Pigeon Island National Landmark

Statement by the Saint Lucia National Trust:

Like many other organisations, the operations of the Saint Lucia National Trust (SLNT), have been severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic and as such the SLNT is facing a difficult financial future.

The SLNT Council had hoped that things would have started changing for the better by now, but the outlook in our tourism source markets is bleak, with Covid cases continually rising in North America, Europe and Saint Lucia. It now seems that it may be
another year before things will start changing for the better.

In light of its precarious financial situation, the SLNT has been forced to undertake a restructuring exercise, which includes the scaling down of work programme and the deferral of others, as well as reducing the staff complement.

Due to this reduced staff complement, commencing January 1, 2021, the Pigeon Island National
Landmark will be closed to visitors on Mondays and Tuesdays. Additionally, there will also be a
change in opening hours on days that the Landmark is opened, from 9am-5pm to 9:30am-5pm.
The office days and hours will also change from 8am-4pm, Mondays to Fridays, to 9am-5pm,
Tuesdays to Saturdays.

In keeping with the requirement of the Government of Saint Lucia to curtail the spread of the Corona virus and in light of the new opening days, the following schedule for visitation will apply; visitation to Landmark by international visitors shall be on Wednesday and Thursday and for locals, Friday to Sunday. The general public is asked to take note of these new arrangements.

This schedule shall be reviewed regularly and revisited if necessary, and all relevant parties shall
be informed of the changes. Hotel and tourism facilities as well as the general public can contact
the SLNT offices at 452-5005 or admin@slunatrust.org for additional information.
We take this opportunity to thank our members, fellow Saint Lucians and patrons for their
support during 2020 and look forward to the continued cooperation of the hotels, tourism
facilities and the general public in working together with us in 2021.
