An investigation has been launched following the discovery of a “substantial” quantity of suspected compressed cannabis, during a search of a goods container at a business in the north of the island. The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) issued the following statement on the police operation which was conducted on Tuesday:
On Tuesday, April 27, 2021, units of the RSLPF conducted an operation, during which time, a search of a sealed goods container was initiated. The container was housed within the enclosed premises of a business in the north of the island.
Assistance of partner agencies, including the Customs and Excise Department was sought, resulting in the recovery of a substantial quantity of suspected compressed cannabis. The contents are currently being processed by law enforcement officials. A full assessment of the weight of the contents is not completed at this time.
No one has been arrested to date, but a comprehensive investigation has been launched into the matter.
