This week Saint Lucia was recognized as one of the “Top 20 Islands in the World” and six of the island’s resorts were included in the “Top 40 Resorts in the Caribbean” in the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards.
Ultra-luxury Jade Mountain was rated #1 among the “Top 40 Caribbean Resorts,” and rated 40th in the “Top 100 Hotels and Resorts in the World.” Five more acclaimed Saint Lucia properties appeared on the Top 40 list including Ladera Resort (#4), Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort (#5), Cap Maison (#21), The BodyHoliday (#22) and Anse Chastanet Resort (#30).
“All of us on the island of Saint Lucia are honoured by the response from readers who have visited and been drawn in by the warmth of the Saint Lucian people,” said Tourism Minister Lorne Theophilus. “We congratulate these properties for this acknowledgment and share the recognition for Saint Lucia with all of our tourism partners whose hard work made it possible.”
Tracey Warner Arnold, deputy director and vice president of marketing for the Saint Lucia Tourist Board, noted the island is seeing an increase in stay-over arrivals from the U.S. for the first nine months of the year, up 7.5 percent over 2014.
Saint Lucia is also celebrating additional new flight services beginning in December aboard United Airlines from Chicago, IL, and Newark, NJ.
