The unidentified youth turned himself in on Tuesday evening, accompanied by his lawyer. His next scheduled court appearance is October 14.
According to CBC News, Toronto, quoting Toronto police superintendent Ron Taverner: “The victim was trying to defuse a situation between two other individuals … and it turned very, very tragic.”
The incident occurred at North Albion Collegiate Institute, a high school with about a thousand students in the Toronto suburb of Etobicoke. The stabbing happened after noon Tuesday in the school’s hallway.
The STAR has learned that the Saint Lucian teen (who cannot be identified because he is a minor) migrated to Canada from Bruceville, Vieux Fort, earlier this year. A relative informed this newspaper that the boy’s mother had taken up residency in Canada several years ago. She had filed for legal status for her children, including the young boy.
