Sandals Grande Lifeguard to represent St. Lucia in World Conference in Malaysia

Senior Lifeguard at Sandals Grande Saint Lucian Spa & Beach Resort, Vanessa Eugene, will represent the property and, by extension, the island of Saint Lucia in the upcoming World Conference on Drowning Prevention in Penang, Malaysia from 3rd to 7th November, 2015.

Eugene, who is also a member of the Saint Lucia Life Saving Association, received her official acceptance into the program with a small but emotional ceremony at the Sandals Grande Aqua Center.

Doug Ferguson, Executive Director of the Life Saving Society, said the organisation was honoured to not only support Eugene’s participation into the program but it would also fund her full conference, registration, accommodation and economy return airfare.

At the World Conference, Eugene will stand as an ambassador for Sandals and Saint Lucia and will look to enhance her lifesaving knowledge by meeting and interacting with other international participants.

Regional Water Sports Manager for Sandals Resorts International, Eastern Caribbean, Windell John, congratulated Eugene on her selection and encouraged her to embrace the opportunity to further enhance the abilities that make her an invaluable asset to the continued development of the Sandals family.

The Life Saving Society will register Eugene and book her travel and accommodation at the conference hotel, Hotel Equatorial Penang.

“The Lifesaving Society Ontario offers this support in recognition of your contributions and commitment to our mission,” Director Ferguson said.

Eugene has expressed her sincere gratitude to the Life Saving Society and Sandals team for the opportunity to represent her resort, the local chapter and the island of Saint Lucia in such an auspicious event.
