Super League Semi Finalists Chosen

The semi finalists in the 2012 St Lucia Football Association’s (SLFA’s) Super league Inter-district Football Competition have been decided.

The semi finalists were confirmed after second leg quarter final matches which took place at the weekend at the Mindoo Phillip Park. The four semi finalist are Micoud, Desruisseaux, Canaries and Marchand.

In the second leg quarter final encounters played Saturday afternoon, Micoud edged out Gros Islet three goals to two. Micoud were led to victory by a hat trick from national striker Tremaine Shayne Paul, while Eden “Eve” Charles and a free kick taken by Vard Daniel which deflected in off the Micoud custodian resulted in Gros Islet goals.

The first leg encounter between the two teams drew one all therefore Micoud advanced to the semi finals 4-3 on aggregate.

In the other match Saturday afternoon, Soufriere got the better of Desruisseaux 2-1 . Desruisseaux won the first leg encounter 5-0 and advanced to the semi finals 6-2 on aggregate.

On Sunday Vieux Fort South got past Canaries two goals to one. A penalty by national striker Jamil Joseph and another strike by Derwin “Zidane” Emmanuel gave them victory. Bradley Tisson scored the lone goal for Canaries.

Canaries won the first leg encounter 5-2 so they advance to the semi finals 6-4 on aggregate.

In the second game played Sunday afternoon, Marchand won over Mabouya Valley 4-1 to book their spot in the semi finals on aggregate 7-3, after winning the first leg 3-2.

The semi final lineup is expected to be released shortly by the SLFA. The semi finals are scheduled to be held on October 28 and the finals on November 4. Both the semi finals and final will be played at the Mindoo Phillip Park.
