Sports: The Year in Pictures

Some pictures are everlasting some are just mere images, but these following photographs capture a moment in time when St Lucian athletes had their day and way, which in some instances like the 2012 Olympics were not always triumphant, but had meaning good and bad. Unfortunately some exceptional performances like St Lucia winning the Windward Islands Senior Cricket Tournament for the first time since 1969 are not in this picture gallery but certainly belong there

On his way to a comeback in 2012 Rolandson “The Beast” Auguste devoured the competition.
It was celebration time after Dennery All Stars won the Blackheart Productions Football Tournament.

After a 2670 nautical mile crossing Vaquita was the first yacht to reach St Lucia in this year’s Atlantic Rally for Cruisers.
It was historic in nature when St Lucia staged the first ever NORCECA International Beach Volleyball Tournament near the historic and beautiful Pigeon Island National Landmark. The home team (male that is) consisting of Julian Biscette (spiking) and Joseph Clercent did not disappoint placing third overall. It was also a good year on the hard court with the men and ladies winning ECVBA titles. more
Secondary School Sports is hardly ever mentioned in year end reviews, but 2012 was exceptional for Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School. High jumper Jeanelle Scheper soared to new heights in 2012 winning the Central American and Caribbean Junior Championship and became the first St Lucian to qualify for the finals at the World Junior Championships.more
The St Lucian flag flew high at the London 2012 Olympics but the performance by our athletes was a real downer.
The champagne was flowing when Vieux Fort South captured the Veterans Football Tournament.
St Lucia won their second consecutive OECS Swimming Championship following a close battle with Grenada.
