The St Lucia Cadet Corps has one again answered the call of duty, delivering 3000 meals on Sunday 17th May to various parts of the island.  The various teams were comprised of senior and junior officers of the Corps.  The teams were dispatched to the various communities to deliver the prepackaged meals prepared by various hotels and restaurants.

The meals were delivered to the disaster committees of various districts, and in some cases the members of the Corps assisted in the delivery of meals to individuals.

Lt Col. Hyacinth, Commander of SLCC, expressed his gratitude to the officers of the Corps on their valuable effort  of service to their country during the pandemic . COVID 19 affects all of us, and we are doing our part to ease the pain of the citizens.  He also expressed concern for the junior cadets who are currently at home as schools are closed, imploring them to stay home and stay safe and follow the stated protocols with regards to COVID safety.

The Corps is moving forward with e-learning as a means of keeping cadets up to date with cadet training and exams. This initiative will also include online classes, demonstration videos, and forums for various cadet levels.  In addition, the e-learning platform will also offer training for officers at all levels.

The commander has lamented the effects of COVID-19, but has also embraced it as an opportunity for change, as the Cadet Corps 90th Anniversary motto says, “Being the Change”.   The Cadet Corps is moving into a new era.
