UWI Lecturer in Political Science Dr. Tennyson Joseph will open Thursday’s conference session.

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he St Lucia Country Conference is underway at the Bay Gardens Hotel, and will run from October 26-28, 2016. The overall theme is: “Collegial Information Sharing for Sustainable Development”, and the conference is expected to create an environment for sharing and learning, which organizers say are the necessary steps towards establishing the links which facilitate the management of indigenous knowledge for general use, thus providing an avenue by which academic research on Saint Lucia can make a substantial contribution to global discourse.

There is no registration cost for locals attending individual sessions, and on Thursday, October 27, the proceedings begin with the Plenary Session with Dr. Tennyson Joseph. The opening discussion is titled ‘1952/1957 and 1992/1997: Peasant Revolts and Political Change in St Lucia.’ Throughout the day sessions will be hosted simultaneously, and presentations end on Thursday afternoon, and resume on Friday morning.

Friday’s packed schedule begins with a full panel session with Dr. Kyneata Joseph, Dr. Talia Esnard, Dr. Christine Descartes, and Dr. Sandra Evans who will tackle the topic, ‘Beyond Talk: Crossing Language Boundaries.’
