The Saint Lucia Manufacturers Association Awards Dinner was held on Saturday March 8. The event, which is held every two years, recognizes excellence across several areas in the manufacturing sector.
There were three divisions within each category; Gold, Platinum, and Diamond, which assured nominees of not going home empty handed. Our very own Star Publishing Company picked up a prize in the Gold category for Customer Service and Quality, which Managing Director Mae Wayne accepted. Wayne was also one of several women in business who were honoured on Saturday in recognition of International Women’s Day. Other Gold awardees were: Paradise Water, Poyotte’s Joinery Incorporated, and TopStone Fabrication Limited.
Platinum winners included DuBoulay’s Bottling Company Limited, Sunfresh Limited and Natmed Limited. The Diamond recipients were Winera, Harris Paints St Lucia Limited, Baron Foods and Caribbean Awning Production Company Limited.
Harris Paints won in seven categories, the most on the night, including Diamond standard in the Human Resource Category, Diamond in the Implementation of Standards and Best Practices and Diamond in the area of Social Responsibility. They also took home the award for Presentation of Excellence, which was presented by prime minister Kenny Anthony. See weekend STAR and 2NITE Magazine for more on the SMA Awards.
