Student Dies in School Road Race

Fifteen year-old Jonius “Tallo” Auguste – a George Charles Secondary School student –collapsed on Thursday, January 16  while participating in the schools annual road race.

Auguste, according to reports, collapsed near the finish line of the event. He was rushed to the La Croix Mingot Health Centre and later to Victoria Hospital where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit but later died.

The Ministry of Education has since expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased expressing the ministry’s regret at the loss of the student.

School officials have however been silent on the matter refusing to offer any comment to the local media.

Auguste’s the STAR has learnt was an avid sportsman and was involved cricket and football at his school. No word yet as to the exact cause of his death.
