Successful Trip to Taiwan Says Minister Flood-Beaubrun

Minister in the Ministry of External Affairs, the Honourable Sarah Flood-Beaubrun has described her one-week courtesy visit to the Republic of China (R.O.C.), Taiwan as a success. Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, the Honourable Allen M. Chastanet along with Minister Flood-Beaubrun visited Taiwan last week, for a round of high level meetings with representatives of the Government of Taiwan, Trading Expo Representatives and other potential investment company executives and also to lay the groundwork for an official visit later this year. Minister Flood-Beaubrun returned to Saint Lucia on Sunday.

Speaking about her trip the Minister said: “It was a very good opportunity and quite an eyeopening experience. The trip afforded an opportunity for the exploration of possibilities and the creation of synergies between the two countries.” A meeting with Saint Lucian students studying in Taiwan, bi-lateral discussions with government officials as well as trade and investment dialogue formed some of the highlights of this productive trip.

Meanwhile, the island’s Prime Minister is on the final leg of his trip to Canada. Prime Minister Hon. Allen M. Chastanet will meet with Canadian business partners as well as Canadian financial agencies. He will also take some time off in order to attend to family matters. In His absence, Minister for Infrastructure, Ports, Energy and Labour Hon. Stephenson King will hold the position of Acting Prime Minister until Prime Minister Allen M. Chastanet returns to Saint Lucia on September 5, 2016.
