Suspected Goat Thieves Nabbed

On Thursday 22 November 2012, Officers attached to the Traffic Unit and Task Force were conducting operations within Roseau, Marigot, Anse La Raye and surrounding communities.

 During the operations several vehicles were stopped and searched. A number of vehicles were impounded as well.

 One of the vehicles stopped was a Honda CRV SUV registration number PE 9014. A search was conducted on the vehicle as well as its occupants.

Officers discovered Seven High Breed goats wrapped in a blue tarpaulin in the trunk of the said vehicle. Three of the goats appeared to be dead.

Two male occupants were on the vehicle, both of La Ressource, Vieux Fort. They were subsequently arrested on suspicion of Cattle Stealing and Cruelty to Animals.

Consequently the goats were photographed and the dead ones were buried.

Prior to the discovery of the animals, officers of the Vieux Fort Police Station were in receipt of a report of stolen goats.

Investigations into the matter continue.
