The Saint Lucia Mission of Seventh-Day Adventists will host its first ever Christian Education Telethon on Sunday, 02 August 2020 under the theme, “Christian Education #WeAreAllIn”. The event is scheduled to run from 11:00 am to 7:00pm and will be live- streamed on various platforms including LNO Studios YouTube and Face-book page, St Lucia Mission YouTube page and Prayz FM Radio 98.5 and 92.5.

The proceeds from this inaugural Christian Education Telethon will assist with defraying outstanding school fees, as many parents with children attending our schools have been adversely affected by job loss due the COVID-19 pandemic – in many cases both parents are unemployed. Moreover, proceeds from the telethon will assist in financing the schools’ Education Development Projects such as the e-Learning Project. The Saint Lucia Mission of Seventh-Day Adventists operates three primary schools and one secondary school (Saint Lucia SDA Academy), with a total student population of six hundred and eighty-eight.

Our students’ performance over the years have been remarkable. In the 2019 CXC Examinations, the Saint Lucia SDA Academy obtained a pass rate of 73.5%, with a 100% pass rate in Agricultural Science, Information Technology, Integrated Science, Office Administration, Principles of Accounts, EDPM, Textile Clothing & Fashion, Food Nutrition and Health, Industrial Technology- Building and Religious Knowledge. Our primary Schools have been consistent in scoring above the national mean in the Common Entrance Examination.

Our schools provide quality education at nominal tuition fees, but these are insufficient to cover operational costs. We are not a recipient of a government subvention. We believe that your support and contribution to this Christian Education Telethon will go a long way in helping to make a difference in the lives of those students. The telethon promises to deliver world-class performances ranging from gospel music to spoken word, drama and many more.

The schools’ curricula is purposed on shaping and developing well-rounded citizens. Seth Isidore, a current student of the Saint Lucia SDA Academy, wooed the audience with his presentation at Saint Lucia’s 40th Anniversary of Independence 2019, and subsequently at the 40th Regular Meeting of the Heads of Government CARICOM in July 2019 as the devotional speaker. Also gracing our education corridors are former Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Honorable Stephenson King, and renowned Harvard professor and internationally recognized social scientist Dr. David R. Williams, ranked as the Most Cited Black Scholar in the Social Sciences, to name a few.
