TJ in deep thought

Castries, Saint Lucia : Thursday March 22, 2018

A customarily reserved and calm, Teddyson John (TJ) has decided to ‘Vent’. After a series of odd posts of frustration on Instagram last week, TJ has now opened up. The international award winning entertainer on Thursday March 22, unleashed an emotionally-rich musical commentary; ‘Vent’. And while ‘Vent’ is released as TJ’s first single for Saint Lucia Carnival 2018, this song far transcends a season, as its powerful lyrics reflect real life situations, of which we have all been victims.

At some point in our lives, we have misjudged someone, pointed fingers and shared a rumour, without first seeking the truth, or pausing to think of the impact of our words. TJ encourages ‘less judgement and more love’ with this single. He further implores a habit of celebration for the progress, growth and success of others, instead of fabrication and speculations.

‘Vent’ craftily features a common Creole hook “yo ka parle” and a strong accordion, creating a uniquely authentic St. Lucian sound. Since its release on Thursday morning, the track has received raving reviews on social and digital platforms. YouTube fans have seemingly conferred a new title upon the soulful entertainer saying; “Can we call Teddy the king of conscious soca?”,”The lyrics on this one real, excellent writing. Consistent! “, “The KING OF CONSCIOUS SOCA does it again! Thank you Teddy for this incredibly motivational chune…” and “What a tune! Perfect production and lyrics on point! As a French speaker I appreciate the creole part on the chorus.” Undoubtedly, ‘Vent’ is resonating with audiences and truly moving people in a deep and profound way.

As for TJ’s inspiration for this song he expressed, “With life experiences comes maturity and as an artiste I have a responsibility to continue to creatively transfer that maturity into music that can be consumed by everyone, but more importantly, music that is relatable. My label for ‘Vent’ is ‘the people’s song’, because every line is somebody’s life story at some point in their lives. Despite the negativity that may come our way, this song is also a reminder that we should always press on and focus on our personal progress.”

With this strong start to the 2018 season, fans, supporters and music lovers can continue to expect an anthems galore, from this groovy king.
