Veteran journalist Timothy Poleon will not be entering elective politics. He made the disclosure today March 10, after months of speculation that he was among the prospective candidates for the United Workers Party in Castries South.

In September 2020 the award-winning journalist stated that “attempts” were being made to turn him into a politician.

Speaking during his lunchtime show today, Poleon announced: “I’ll make a disclosure: I will not be contesting any general election in Saint Lucia. I have made up my mind on this issue so let me just clear the air on this.”

He added: “I am not interested, I have withdrawn my interest in elective politics. I was approached on several occasions, even recently approached again, but I’ve decided that I really don’t want to. It’s a while I’ve come to that conclusion.”

To date, the UWP has not named a candidate for the constituency.
