Tourism Minister Dominic Fedee has assured Saint Lucian cruise ship workers that the government is working to get them home. Speaking today at a sitting of the House of Assembly, Fedee said that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many nationals were stuck on cruise ships.
Addressing affected families, the minister said: “We are doing everything possible to get them home. This government is committed to ensuring that all of the cruise line employees — there are over 500 that are currently in various locations overseas — and we are doing everything possible to make sure that we get them home safely.”
He added: “We are working with airlines, cruise lines, and at a diplomatic level with the State Department to make sure that we get you home safely with your family.”
Fedee revealed that a group of seven Saint Lucians employed with Norwegian Cruise Line will arrive in the country today from Barbados.
