TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS FOR EBOLA COUNTRIES

187

Given the extent of the outbreak of Ebola affecting Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony has advised the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Vernon Francois, to implement with immediate effect, a prohibition on persons from these countries who wish to travel to Saint Lucia. All visitors from Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone will be denied entry into Saint Lucia until further notice.

Despite the fact that the President of Nigeria has declared that Nigeria is Ebola free, visitors from Nigeria will be required to present a recent medical certificate which clears him/her of the virus, in addition to a VISA to be allowed entry into Saint Lucia.

The Prime Minister says, the Government of Saint Lucia continues to monitor the outbreak and has allocated resources to prepare for any possible threat. Recent events in Dallas, Texas have prompted a heightened awareness and necessitate strong action to ensure that Saint Lucia is protected.

The Ministry of Health will continue to monitor developments in the United States and Europe, the three severely affected West African countries and will provide updates to the public.

  1. So Kenny you racist bigot, there was ebola in Texas but I guess you will allow Texans to enter no problem. It all looks good on the surface doing your little travel propaganda, but ebola is not just in Africa now.

  2. i do not believe that St.lucia has the resources to prepare for any possible threat, if Canada is not prepared neither is St.Lucia.

  3. Foolishness !!. The way things are going what if a tourist from the US or others from the Europe bring it in ?? They will never get ban they love that dollar too much ; if it’s a White English Man ( They love to go to the Mother Land) and comes to St Lucia Pink like a cook lobster you think they would turn him back; with their massa mentality down there oh hell no. What if a St Lucian who visit Africa by the way of The UK and decides to go home to jump carnival ?? The possibilities are endless, sorry to say it’s only a matter of time , you better off preparing than banning. Did you read that talk about editorial in the Sierra Leone Observer ?? No ! Homework for you when you on the balcony this weekend, read about it.

  4. Please Dr. Anthony, Nigeria is one of the easiest countries to get a false passport (ask Nigerians living in London) think how much easier would it be to get a rogue doctor to give a certificate of good health………….
