Tropical Wave Expected Tonight Into Tomorrow

The met office at the Hewanorra International Airport has issued flood warnings for the island. A tropical wave with an upper level trough is expected to pass over the lesser antilles from tonight into tomorrow.

Below is the forecast from the met office at 6PM today.

FORECAST FOR SAINT LUCIA VALID FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS

Winds will be blowing from between the east-northeast and east-southeast near 20 mph or 31 km/h, with occasional gusts.

Weather: Cloudy to overcast skies, with some moderate to heavy showers, periods of rain and thunderstorms.

Residents and motorists in areas prone to flooding and landslides are asked to exercise EXTREME caution.

MARINE FORECAST FOR SEAS IN A 25 MILE OR 40 KM RADIUS FROM SAINT LUCIA

Tides for Castries Harbour: Low at 12:15 am… High at 6:57 am.

Tides for Vieux Fort Bay:   High at 06:25 pm… Low at 1:42 am.

Seas: Moderate to locally rough with waves 5 to 8 feet or 1.5 to 2.4 metres.

Small craft operators and sea bathers are advised to exercise caution due to gusty winds and locally rough seas.

FORECAST FOR THE LESSER ANTILLES

Cloudy to overcast, with moderate to heavy showers, periods of rain and thunderstorms.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

A tropical wave interacting with an upper level trough system, will cause an increase in cloudiness, showers and thunderstorms across the Eastern Caribbean region, from tonight into tomorrow.

Another tropical wave located over the central Tropical Atlantic is moving westward near 20 mph or 31 km/h.
