A grey Nissan reportedly belonging to Omar Defreitas was found in a pond close to the Sandals Golf and Country Club this morning at about 7:00am Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ronald Philip confirmed today to reporters.
Omar Defreitas was reported missing on January 6th after having attended a Staff party at the Sandals Golf and Country Club. Many intensive searches both by air and ground ensued following his disappearance but to no avail. Family members and the employer of Omar Defreitas offered cash rewards for information following about his whereabouts.
ACP Philip indicated that divers from the marine unit had gone into the pond to assess the vehicle and confirmed it was a Grey Nissan sedan, registration number PL2025. Police, however, did not confirm the contents of the vehicle and noted the investigation is still being treated as a homicide.
This discovery represents one of the first major leads in the case of Defreitas’s disappearance. Police spent the better part of the day working to remove the submerged vehicle from the Pond. Upon gaining access to the inside, human remains were found. It has not yet been determined nor confirmed that the remains are that of Defraitas who went missing over 3 months ago.
