Caribbean Volleyball Association’s (ECVA) Junior Champions are set. The Championships serve as a qualifier for ECVA teams (one male and one female), to compete in the 2014 North Central American and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA) Continental Championship.

The men’s championship will be hosted by French St Maarten August 15-19, with St Lucia, British Virgin Islands, Anguilla, Antigua, Dominica, and St Maarten competing for the title.

The St Lucia Volleyball Association’s (SLVA) busy year continues as it fields a contingent of 11 to the men’s championship, with the hopes of bringing home the gold. The 11 team members are: Augustin Faulkner (captain), Tevin St Jean, Anfernee Ferdinand, Darnell Eudoxie, Kevin Norville, Yann Taupier, Keiran President, Andre Marquis Jr, Alexander Augier, Elvin Germain (Head Coach), and Keam Charlery (referee).

The contingent left here on Thursday and returns on Monday via the George FL Charles Airport.

Subsequently, St Lucia will host the ECVA Female Championships, August 21-25 at the Beausejour Indoor Practice Facility, where St Vincent, French St Maarten, Antigua and St Lucia will participate. The contingent to represent St Lucia at the Junior Female Championship will be announced at a later date.

Volleyball is in full swing in St Lucia as junior and senior in both male and female divisions in both formats of the sport (beach and indoor teams), have been preparing and competing in regional and international competitions in 2013.

Currently, the Youth Olympics Beach Volleyball Clinic is ongoing at Choc Beach over a two week period ending August 19 under the supervision of Florian Combie.
