WICB congratulates champions

President of the West Indies Cricket Board Dave Cameron.

President of the West Indies Cricket Board Dave Cameron has lauded the Barbados team for winning the Regional 4-Day Tournament.

Barbados clinched their 21st regional first-class title on Saturday on home soil, following an innings and 22-run victory over Trinidad & Tobago in the Grand Final of the tournament at Kensington Oval.

“On behalf of the WICB I would like to congratulate the Barbados team on another successful season, where they showed an indomitable spirit,” said Cameron.

Cameron noted that the win was a combination of talent and teamwork from all concerned that contributed to this latest success. He also recognised the work of the support staff.

“The Barbados team has upheld some of the best traditions of the game, following in the footsteps of great icons like Sir Everton Weekes, whose name is jointly affixed to the tournament trophy and was on hand to present it to Kirk Edwards,” said Cameron.

He added:  “The Barbados Cricket Association should also be applauded for their continued investment in their players and the game. Congratulations are extended to BCA President Joel Garner and everyone who contributed to the team’s success this season. We look forward to Barbados continuing to play a key role in the development of the game in the region.”

The Regional Four Day title was the first for Barbados in six years.
