Police reportedly have one man in custody who is connected to a shooting incident last weekend which left one man dead. According to preliminary reports, the incident took place in the vicinity of the CDC building on Jeremie Street at about 4:10 am last Saturday.
Dead is Terrel Reynolds also known as Terrel James alias “Slowmo” of Faux-A-Chaux. Reports indicate that Reynolds was on his way home from a dance near the CDC alley when he was approached by an assailant. Several shots were fired at him leaving him fatally wounded. He was taken to the Victoria Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A young woman who was in the company of her boyfriend and Reynolds said she witnessed the incident. She claims the Faux-A-Chaux resident was shot moments after a heated exchange between her boyfriend and a man who had approached them.
“We parked lower down the CDC when my boyfriend went to buy something to eat and he went to urinate. After a few minutes, I heard shots fired. I started screaming, telling my friends let’s go. We drove off and apparently when we got to the Boulevard, I let myself out of the vehicle to only notice he was dead,” said the young woman.
Meanwhile, Reynolds’ sister, Jackie Reynolds admits he had a troubled past. She said he had had run-ins with the law.
“He was a free spirit person; he liked to do whatever he wants but he wasn’t rude,” she said.
Reynolds recounts the morning of the incident: “At around 5am, I got a call from my cousin who told me he got shot. I asked whether he was at the hospital, she said no, he is at the mortuary. I contacted my mother immediately and then we proceeded to the hospital only to be told that his body had already left for Rambally.”
She indicated that the police have yet to inform the family officially about the shooting incident that left her brother dead nor had they yet allowed the family to identify the body, however, she noted that witnesses who were present at the time of the incident did identify the assailant.
Reynolds further added that the family is coping with the loss despite the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
“This has never happened to us before and it is something that we are trying to understand.
“It is still a loss for us because we have lost a family member. We have not seen the body as yet and I think when we do see the body then everything will really set in. When we see the body we will be at peace.”
The 30-year-old Faux-A-Chaux resident leaves behind two sons and a pregnant girlfriend. According to police, this was the eight homicide for the year. Police investigations are still ongoing.
