Diamonds continue to brighten St Lucia

Diamonds International graduates shone bright at this week’s graduation ceremony.

Diamonds International, Saint Lucia gave new meaning to their theme “Brightening Saint Lucia One Diamond at a Time,” when the company celebrated the shining accomplishments of nine staff members last week.

On Thursday, May 16 Diamonds International presented certificates to nine of its employees graduating from the DI University as certified coloured stone graders and pearl specialists. A small ceremony was held at their Pointe Seraphine store to mark the occasion.

General Manager of Diamonds International, Hugh Jones spoke to graduates about his pride of seeing the fulfillment of the university’s vision.

“It is important for me to tell you how very proud I am to be here today for the graduation of the first class of our coloured stone specialists of the Diamonds International University,” Hugh Jones started off by saying. “I want to recognize everybody, not just for the effort you put out, but for the sacrifice so many of you have been making in order for this to happen.”

Jones went on to thank the instructors, graduates and office attendants who he said gave up their free time and family time to persevere.

“From my heart, I want you to know how much I appreciate you making this a success,” Jones expressed.

According to the general manager, when DI University started in August it was little more than a vision.

“After all, starting the university was pretty new territory for me,” he said. “But the enthusiasm and commitment shown by all those involved encouraged me to take the vision and move it forward. You guys have made DI University a reality and have propelled the company in a new direction.”

The general manager informed staff that the success of the university had resulted in one island requesting it be exported there in the fall with two more to come on stream soon.

Diamonds International Saint Lucia now has forty-two certified diamondtologists according to Hugh Jones, “and now we have nine certified coloured stone graders and pearl specialists. This is a huge accomplishment and one we should all be proud of. You guys have emerged victorious, my congratulations and thanks.”

The nine graduates who were presented with their certificates Thursday are Michele Anne Ghirawoo, Agatha Elisa, Neelkanth Mahtani, Ryan Scott, Chelsey Rambally, Sherman Elibox, Junia St. Jules, Desidra Lionel and Simone Williams.
