On Saturday 14th July 2012, about 12:05 am, Officers attached to the Traffic Department responded to a report of a serious accident which occurred on the Morne, Castries.
Reports indicate that a brown Nissan motor pick up registration number PE 8097, driven by a man of Bisee was travelling along the Morne road in the direction of Castries. The driver lost control of his vehicle and ran off the left side of the road into a crowd of persons.
As a result of the impact, three pedestrians sustained injuries. They are 43 year old Paul Remise of Laborie, 39 year old Marcellus Joseph of the Morne and 18 year old Bernard Leonce of the Morne. Also injured was the driver of PE 8097 and his passenger Wilberforce Stephen of Goodlands. They all were transported to Victoria Hospital where they were treated. Paul Remise and Marcellus Joseph were admitted in critical condition whilst the others were discharged.
On Tuesday 17th July 2012, about 12:05 pm, Paul Remise of Laborie succumbed to his injuries whilst at the Intensive Care Unit of Vitoria Hospital.
A post mortem is scheduled at a later date to determine the cause of death for Paul Remise.
An investigation in the matter is continuing.
